Another wedding day shrouded in rain, threatening to ruin the outside ceremony planned at The Spring Side Barn. It would not have mattered, tho, if the rains hadn’t let up, and the whole earth would have been drenched in a mud mess. Michael & Alyssa would still have had the best wedding day ever. Because, in their eyes, there was so much love, and rain cannot mess with that. With my favorite set of rings to date they said I do, under the clearest blue skies you have ever seen. We did change up a few things with the timeline and venue locations, but it was fine and it all worked out spectacular-ly. I loved all the dusty blue accents. The flower hoops. All the kids running around. The crazy amount of siblings (also has to be some kind of record for this year with all the large families). The gorgeous cake. The delicious meal. All of it. (I feel the 70’s coming back with a song and a dance into the wedding world and it makes me so happy). But what you cannot see on the photos but hopefully get a feel of is the amount of love and gentleness that was handed out on this day. So much grace and goodness and happiness. That’s what was really so great about this wedding.

Usually, it’s the children that are delighted to participate. At this wedding tho, I felt like the adults were as happy about getting these two married as the children were. Everyone was eager to help and most of the jobs were done by family and friends of the family. The meal, the cake, the flowers, the decorating, the bridesmaids dresses, the coffee (bride’s brother has a place) and even the hair and make up. Every single person seemed to have a job to do and had so much fun doing it!

We took a bunch of pictures before the first look, and by the time we decided we couldn’t push things off any longer the rain had slowed to a drizzle. Things were wet, but we knew it was gonna be the best day ever and the weather would cooperate once again! In my 9 years of wedding photography I have not had one wedding day rained out yet. (not yet!)

Because the sky was perfectly overcast we could shoot all around the farm, which I had never done before. I have been to Spring Side many times but always with the sunshine beating down on us. It was perfect.

Only a very brave and fun loving couple would choose to give out squirt guns for the send off! They did it!

Michael and Alyssa. How perfect the two of you are for each other. You show your love in the sweetest ways possible and I am honored to have been your wedding photographer and to have spent the day with your closest friends and your families. May all your parties end with a watergun send off…. it’s perfect for the two of you!
